Interview with Awake Again

Interview with Awake Again
On March 12th, we traveled to Hoofddorp in the Netherlands to meet the Finnish modern metal band Awake Again. While they were in town opening for Lost Society, we had the exclusive opportunity to sit down with them for an interview. We talked about their upcoming album, their unexpected dream collaborations, and the harsh reality of being on the road.

New Album ?

The first thing we wanted to know was:is there new music coming? The answer is a big yes. The band is already in the writing and pre-production phase for their next album. "We are planning to maybe get some singles out around September, and the full album in spring 2027," they told us.

When we asked what it will sound like, they promised us Awake Again on steroids. The new tracks will be heavier and faster. As they put it: "We'll probably turn the crazy knob a bit further." Lyrically, the vibe will be darker, reflecting the crazy times we live in. But they don't want to make people depressed: "Even though the times are grim, we
always want to sprinkle a little bit of hope in our songs."

The Enter Shikari Spark... and the Miley Cyrus Dream

We were curious about how Awake Again started in the first place. It turns out, it's mostly thanks to Enter Shikari. Seeing that band mix metal with electronic backing tracks was a massive revelation for them. They also mentioned System of a Down, Bring Me the Horizon, and Architects (especially the Holy Hell era) as huge inspirations.

But the biggest surprise of our interview came when we asked about their dream collaborations. We expected them to name metal legends, but instead, their number one choice was Miley Cyrus! Lady Gaga was a close second. Because they use so many electronic sounds, they also told us they would love to try a hip-hop crossover or work with a pop producer. "It's always super interesting to see what someone who isn't a typical metal producer can bring to our music," they explained.

Touring: The Harsh Reality Backstage They dream of playing massive stages and huge global tours. But they were very honest with us about the reality of their current European run: it can be brutal.
"It has been hard," they confessed. "We've had car problems, customs issues, we missed ferries... we've slept very little and eaten very little." They even joked that they have no idea how some bands manage to party every night. But despite all the struggle, they absolutely love it. They told us that the shows, the amazing venues, and meeting the fans make every bad moment worth it.

Before ending our interview, we had to ask about Belgium. They told us they actually drove through our country twice on this tour, but unfortunately, they didn't have an official show here. "We would love to come," they promised. The message is out loud
and clear. Belgian promoters, you know what you have to do!

A huge thank you to Awake Again for taking the time to sit down and chat with us!
